Farm Visits

Updated: Apr 1, 2021

Yesterday was awesome, despite the drizzling rain and mud. Catherine, Caroline, and I went to visit several local farmers and talk more about this amazing app that we're working on. You can read more about it here.

Our first stop was Shenk Family Farm to visit with Rachel and Mason (who is feeling much better). We then took a mini-tour around LongLeaf farms with David Wooten. After that, we left Newport and ventured down to Cedar Point to visit Jeff and Mary Miller at The Market at Cedar Point. I had never been and I was impressed!

I also just found out through their Facebook page that they are hosting the Western Carteret Farmer's Market on January 18th from 9 AM to 2 PM. I put it on my calendar.

Our group stayed awhile at The Farm at Bogue to see the new stuff they're working on, to pick up assorted items like salad greens, rainbow baby carrots, clementine, sweet 100, and heirloom tomatoes for our Microgreen Culinary Class that was today, and to catch up. Bert and Justin are ah-MAZ-ing!

We made brief stops at Earthwise (part of the NC Coastal Federation... they have a community garden), the Winberry Farm, the Salty Air Open Market, Sam's Seafood and Page Produce.

It was a good run and we spoke to several different farmers, each with their own niche. It's awesome to be part of such a wonderful group of people.

Don't forget to thank a farmer today!
