About the Event

Here is your invitation to our 2022 Volunteer Orientation for Carteret Local Food Network. We anticipate going over all of our programs, answering questions, and walking you through our processes.

We will meet at the CLFN 'Hub' (297 Willis Farm Road, Newport) in two shifts, either 9:00-11:00 AM or 12:00-2:00 PM on Saturday, April 9th.

We plan to show off the Hub and our new Veggie Van (bus), our procedures for buying, storing, and selling the finest produce that Carteret County has to offer, and the ways that you can help us achieve our Mission - 'to strengthen the relationship between Carteret farmers and Carteret consumers'.

Some of the jobs we will discuss are :

Veggie Van volunteers - early shift 10:15-1:45, late 1:45-5:00 on Tues-Fri each week for six months, one shift commitment each month, more available if you wish

Farm, Food, and Friends dinners - gathering ingredients, setting up for the event, cleaning up afterward

Promotional/Marketing - passing out flyers in neighborhoods, working on our social media presence, photography, etc

Crop Mobs - working with twenty other volunteers in a farmer's fields weeding, planting, harvesting, or handling big jobs that are overwhelming for one person

Cleaning and Sanitizing - very flexible schedule (your schedule) washing totes, sanitizing for food safety at the Hub

CSA bags - gathering produce, assembling bags, delivering bags

Some jobs last only half a day, some are needed several times a week. Some are sitting jobs, some standing, some walking, some kneeling. Some jobs are at your home, some are networking in the community. ALL jobs help to continue the good work of helping to get nutritious food to all members of our community.

We hope some of these look enticing, so let us know if you have any questions or we can answer them on Orientation Day!

Feel free to bring a friend!
