BECKY'S PRODUCE

    Becky and Jeff Morris farm in the rich soils off the White Oak River and harvest an assortment of berries and seasonal vegetables. Becky’s Farmstand is often a first stop for visitors to the Crystal Coast who drive in on Rt 58. Check social media for seasonal open dates, typically April to August.  Year round firewood available.

 

BRYAN FARMS

  Eric and Martha Bryan sell only what they grow at their farmstand conveniently located right outside Newport.  Open during the growing season. All seasonal vegetables and homemade preserves. Plus, firewood by the stack or bundle. 

 

GARNER FARMS

   Sherri and Clayton Garner grow strawberries, sweet corn, tomatoes, and Bogue Sound watermelons, and all seasonal produce, “fully stocked farmer’s market with homegrown seasonal produce, hydroponic lettuces, homemade jams and jellies, frozen and freshly cooked vegetables from their own country kitchen”. GRAYZFARM

   Farming in Otway, Gray Hall grows in the soils off the North River in hoophouses, and sells from his honor system farmstand refrigerators, at Cedar Point Farmers Market, and direct to fine local restaurants. Special orders welcome. And weeding volunteers are welcome too! Crop Mob host.

   Joe Merrell and his family are proud of their Century Farm status (over 100 years on the same farm land). He grows seasonal vegetables and flowers at Olde Beaufort Farmers’ Market and the farmstand; he also delivers fresh NC vegetables to many area restaurants. Closed in winter.

   Farmer Charlie Meadows sells only what he grows from his homestead in Jones County. Charlie has boundless positive energy for his farm’s wide variety of seasonal produce. Open tourist hours - Friday and Saturdays, check Fb. Might sell through the Cedar Point Farmers Market, and Havelock Farmers’ Market. 

 

WILLIS FARM

   Brothers Alan and Rodney Willis grow a full range of seasonal vegetables and fruits to keep their farmstand open year round. Other local farmers supply eggs, and the Willis family freezes their produce for winter sales. Cedar Point is open April - December, but Newport stand is open year round.

   David and Sarah Winberry use hoophouses for much of their bountiful seasonal produce. They also boil peanuts and sell local jams and jellies. Closed in winter.

   Glenn grows at his family home in the community of Mill Creek when he is not teaching students at the Community College. Saturdays starting mid-May, Glenn sells at Cedar Point Farmers Market and his friend Orrin sells from their farmstand at 1000 Old Winberry Road, Newport from 8-3, and also at the Market at Cedar Point.  Crop Mob host.

    Farmer Michael Murdoch excels at sustainable growing off the grid  all the way to solar power only for irrigation and refrigeration needs. Also Michael is our only Carteret Certified Naturally Grown farmer (close kin to Organic status). He sells his seasonal produce at the Market at Cedar Point.

   Fisherman/ farmer Craig Hamilton is a real local with Carteret roots far deeper than any vegetable or tree.  He raises meat ducks and also sells their eggs, either from his home, or Olde Beaufort Farmers’ Market or online and even delivered between Beaufort and his home.

   Farmers Cat Hermann and Jason Boos have found a little patch of heaven in Mill Creek Community. They raise chicken, duck, goose for eggs, and lamb, pork, chicken, turkey, goose for their meat.

   Carteret County’s local beekeeping club meets monthly and plans to have a list of beekeepers who have honey for sale or ability to capture a swarm. Local honey does have proven ability to mitigate seasonal allergies because the bees pick up local pollen on their legs to bring back to their hive for food; you then taste a little honey each day to build immunity, such a prescription!

   Kathleen and Michael Gielink host their bees on the shores of Sleepy Creek. They harvest honey with and without the comb and also make soaps.      Jeff and Kelly Toms love to sell their honey from their front porch which often devolves into an enjoyable and informative tour of their mini-apiary in theirs and their neighbor’s backyards. They sell at local pop-up markets too.

 

TRIPLE S BEE FARM

    Julie and Scott Taylor manage hundreds of hives in Eastern NC. They offer their harvests at Friendly Market and Ace Hardware in Swansboro. They still help local beekeepers buy their nucs (though end of March) and queens (though end of June), but call soon to order.

TWO BEES FARM

   Tanya Watson has built a lovely homestead along Harlowe Creek off Rt 101 raising bees, rabbits, and beautiful flowers. She sells her honey and flowers from her website; customers order online by Wednesday, and Tanya delivers via six partner business locations for Thursday pick ups. She also sells at the Farmers’ Market at Cedar Point on Saturdays, and  participates in various pop ups.  She also offers educational workshops and floral preservation services. Crop Mob host.

CEDAR POINT FARMERS MARKET

   Started in 2019, Mary and Jeff Miller began this very successful  year-round farmers’ market which runs Saturdays from 9-2 rain or shine. They regularly host up to 14 farmers ranging from pork/ beef/ chicken and eggs/ seafood to produce, flowers/ herbs/ honey.  Fruit and vegetable farms represented are Glenn Howell, grayzfarm, Crystal Coast Microgreens, and Bear Ridge Farms; Mills Farm and Peluso Farm from Onslow County sell frozen beef and pork. Eatable Mushrooms sells fresh and dried mushrooms, Two Bees Farm brings flowers and honey, and Pat Garner sells fresh seafood from his business in the parking lot.

 

MOREHEAD CITY CURB MARKET

    Carteret’s oldest market is the Morehead City Curb Market started in 1927, and is operated from an historical market building on Evans and 13th Streets, and is managed by Janet Perryman and the MC Parks and Rec Dept.  This Saturday morning market runs from 8-1 starting Earth Day on Saturdays through the end of November, plus third Thursday evenings from 6-8.

 

OLDE BEAUFORT FARMERS’ MARKET

   The Olde Beaufort Farmers’ Market was founded in May 2013 and has been growing ever since. Hosted under the lovely live oaks along the Carteret County Courthouse drive, Cindy Bunch manages 60 vendors each Saturday from 9-1 starting April 12 to November 29 plus a holiday market December 13. Produce is from JW Merrell Farm and Paradise Produce; meats are produced by Shenk Family Farm (chicken eggs, frozen chicken and pork), and seafood fishermen Darden Seafood (oysters, frozen shrimp), and Ophelia Inlet (smoked fish, crab dip, duck eggs,frozen duck).

 

ONSLOW COUNTY FM, 4024 Richlands Hwy, Jacksonville, Saturdays 8-12, open year round except only once a month in winter, accepts SNAP.

NEW BERN FM, 421 S Front St, New Bern, Saturdays 8-2, year round, accepts SNAP.

HAVELOCK FM, Havelock City Park, seasonal first Saturdays 9-1, accepts SNAP.

   DownEast residents can enjoy fresh seasonal produce grown on site at this lovely established nursery. Owner Robin and team Julie and Jasmine tackle sustainable vegetable production for freshest sales possible. No deliveries, but pre-orders accepted by text.

   In 2015, Mary and Jeff Miller began their mission to bring local and organic to Carteret County. They regularly promote local farmers from the Farmers’ Market at the Market at Cedar Point inside their store, farmers like Glenn Howell, Gray Hall from grayzfarm, Crystal Coast Microgreens, Ocean Natural Farm, Beaufort County Organics for seasonal vegetables, fruits, and microgreens, Two Bees Farm for flowers, Bear Ridge Farms for strawberries, Jones Family Farm for watermelons, Eatable Mushrooms, and farmers Mills Farm and Peluso Farm from Onslow County bring frozen pork/ beef/ chicken and eggs, and Whispering Dove Ranch raises lamb. GreenTown Farm grows organic tomatoes and raises wagyu beef. 

    Mary and Jeff work hard to promote “organic groceries, produce, meats, dairy, vegan and vegetarian, dairy free options, gluten free options” for their community.

   Sherry Guthrie continues the tradition of sales from her family’s farmstand on Rt 24.  She is unable to make commitments to growing herself, but she does buy from many local farmers to resell.
