Experience North Carolina: Grown. Raised. Caught. Made.
Carteret Local Food Network is pleased to announce that we received approval and grant funding from the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to expand the counties on the coast that participate in the Visit NC Farms Mobile app!
The Visit NC Farms Phone App, developed by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, connects millions of North Carolina residents and visitors to farmers and local food – one community at a time. With the help of the NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission, the initiative is expanding statewide to connect millions of residents and visitors with local farms & fisheries, local food & drink, farmers markets & u-pick, value-added through local shops, farm stays & lodging, tours & trails and special agricultural events across the state.
Carteret County went live on March 1st to share with locals and tourists alike the fantastic people who grow and produce our food, our local farmers' markets, our amazing seafood, places that serve locally sourced items, and the agritourism activities like U-pick farms, trails, and tours that make us so special.
Now we'll be helping to share the app with Onslow and Craven counties as well. Want to see how it works? Lee County made a video to show you!
Chef Caroline has been working with some producers in these counties and we are eager to make them easy to find for you too! We're hoping to go live in Onslow and Craven counties as soon as September 1st.
Are there farms or agritourism businesses that you want represented? Are you interested in helping us gather these assets and resources or volunteering with us as an administrator for one of these counties?
If so, please reach out to our Business Director, Stacy Macklin at firstname.lastname@example.org, and she'll help you learn and navigate the mobile app and learn all of the ins and out of the mobile app administration. The NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services also offers training and monthly meetings to help you get started and offer support.
We're so excited that we almost wet our plants!
We hope you're looking forward to expanding this amazing resource as much as we are.
