Huge success!
We hope everyone has as much fun as we did! The food was, of course, delicious and beautifully prepared thanks to our host Chef Denise Greer of Celebration Cottage and our new talented CLFN directors, Chef Caroline Dominguez and Stacy Macklin.
But it was the fine collection of local farmers who stole the show. Representing Carteret County were Tanya and Travis Scott of Two Bees Farm, Kim and Russ Nead of The Barnyard, Joe and Rachel Shenk of Shenk Family Farm, Michael Murdoch and Deede Miller of Ocean Natural Farm, Bert and Carl Hadden of The Farm at Bogue, Christine Reisz and Greg Gleason of Early Girl Farm, Gray Hall of GrayZe Farm, Renee and Nate Baker of Twisted Willow Farm, and Brian Reburn and the Won family (wife Lianne and in-laws Sue and IJ Won) of Marshallberg Farm.
Also attending were Ryan Willet and his partner Rebecca of Harlowe Custom Microgreens, Debbie and Tony Alfano and Martha Przysucha from the Earthwise Community Garden, Mary and Jeff Miller from The Market at Cedar Point, Cathy and Gary White from Wildflour Bakery, and Bobby and Kelley Caldwell from Harmony Acres.
Dinner was sourced locally and included duck, quail, and assorted vegetables from Twisted Willow, with even more vegetables and greens from The Farm at Bogue. Dessert was a perfect apple crumble topped with Simple Natural Creamery ice cream.
A special thanks goes out to our volunteers - Fran Pigott-Harding, Barbara Chappetta, Martha Massaad, Brandon Macklin, Susan Schmidt, Deanna Macklin, & Matthew Macklin. It would not have been possible without their help and commitment.
