Now, More Than Ever

While it may seem that the world has gone crazy due to COVID-19, please know that Carteret Local Food Network stands alongside you in hoping for a swift recovery and for a quick return to some normalcy in addition to new opportunities for those laid off.

To our fellow consumers – Our local farmers are out in their fields everyday doing all that they can to grow crops to keep your family nourished. They are working their hardest to cultivate and harvest the very best for your families at a time when fresh may be unavailable in your local grocery stores.

To our amazing farmers –

We are here for you! We will buy your produce, eggs, and meats! We will work with you to find good distribution methods, even new plans like CSAs and delivered orders. We will come to buy from your farm stand or farmers' market when allowed.

Now, more than ever, CLFN's mission to help strengthen the connection between local Carteret farmers and local Carteret consumers remains valid and important and we can help achieve this in new ways:

'Visit NC Farms' - This free mobile app allows you to find most farmers, farmers' markets, and seafood dealers in Carteret County and, when they all re-open, the restaurants who feature local Carteret fare. Use this app to learn their business practices, hours, offerings, and pick-your-own schedules. Download the 'Visit NC Farms' app from your cell provider's app store and get connected to the Carteret businesses bringing their best to market. We are working hard to continuously update our participating farms and markets with hours and item availability to keep you informed in real time. Please check this app often for updates and farms and markets near you.

'Veggie Van' - Our new plan to bring vegetables and fruits from the farm directly to neighborhoods and to help farmers expand their potential reach towards consumers. Where should we consider delivery? Send your suggestions to CarteretLocalFood@gmail.com.

CLFN recognizes the difficulties associated with change and we are working to address those changes. We are refocusing our efforts in 2020 to continually strengthen the connection between local farmers and local consumers. We are likely to forgo our social farm-to-table dinners and cooking classes for the immediate future, but we will be concentrating on helping families - your family - learn more about the health value of cooking fresh, locally grown meals. You and your family's health are important to us. We are looking into new ways to teach you tips and tricks in the kitchen and exploring ways to share recipes to help you cook for your families, stay tuned!

Want to share your ideas as we sort out life in today environment?  Go ahead!  We're listening.  Drop us a note.

In the meantime, stay tuned to Facebook, Instagram and our website - www.CarteretLocalFoodNetwork.org!
